CAKE

This is a humourous tale that your children will love, but that you as a mom or dad will also find yourself giggling at. There are a lot of new books that arrive in the children’s section of your local bookstore, but the creative story and imaginative illustrations featured in CAKE set this book apart.

Cake is invited to a party, and he’s very excited because he’s never been to a party before. He doesn’t know what to wear, and after some curious choices his friend Fish suggests that he wear a hat. He tries on a few at the hat shop, but settles on a special one which will begin to give you a clue about what’s going to happen at the party!

Your children will love the brightly coloured illustrations that accompany this funny tale. They will know what happens to cake at a birthday party, and begin to share Cake’s trepidation as the candles on his hat begin to burn and the guests start to sing. Never fear though, because there is a happy ending, and an even funnier twist that will have the kiddies asking you to ‘please read it again Mom.’

My daughter loved seeing Cake dressed up as a pirate and a superhero, and when he tries on the different hats there is always lots of laughter. CAKE is a funny story that I never mind reading again, and I can’t wait to check out the other titles from the authors Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet.

CAKE is available from bookstores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R145. It’s recommended for ages three to six years.

Thanks to Pan Macmillan for the fun time we had with CAKE.
