It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since Forts and Fairies was launched. It somehow seems that time has passed quickly since then, but also that it’s been so much longer. I guess it’s because I’ve been writing for almost five years now, since I started this journey as a pregnant mom-to-be with my daughter just a little whisper in my belly.
I could never have imagined then that I’d continue writing to preserve the memories of treasured first words and feelings that somehow seemed too big to fit inside my heart on some days. I would also wrote to remember special milestones that my children reached, or quirky habits that I worried I may forget. And of course, I wrote to share just how hard being a mom was some days, and still is.
My journey on this path began a long time before this blog was launched, and it has been a journey of self-discovery as I’ve grown into the role of being a mom to my two precious little people. But I love where it has taken me, on a few unexpected paths that have led me to new things and even back to a few old things that I am passionate about.
I’ve learned so much, and I know that I still have so much to learn. Thank you for sharing this journey with me so far, I hope you will continue to join me as I set out to discover what’s next.
To Amy and Ethan, this blog was created for you. You are my inspiration, my motivation, my reason for being, and I love you with all my heart, to the moon and back again. You are the original Forts and Fairies. To my husband Wayne, who surprised me with this blog a year ago, and sometimes I feel knows me better than I know myself, you are my rock and I cannot imagine doing life with anyone else by my side. You are legend-ary.
Happy 1st Birthday Forts and Fairies! Let’s eat cake and celebrate with a few awesome competitions!
