Hide and Seek Painted Rocks kit

When the Pan Macmillan team sent over this Hide and Seek Painted Rocks kit I think I was just as excited as the kids! We couldn’t wait to test it out and paint our own rock art.

The kit comes with everything you need to get started, including six beautiful large smooth river stones, six acrylic paints (yellow, black, white, red, green and blue), two small paintbrushes as well as a small instruction booklet.

The booklet has step-by-step instructions on how to paint 15 cool rock art designs, including a ladybird, strawberry, bee and even an owl. There are also ideas for seasonal rock art and other ideas for your rock art.

We had such fun painting our rocks, and I can see this will be something we do again. There are just so many designs that we’d like to try, and it’s a lot of fun. Not only did we learn patience (waiting for the different layers of paint to dry in between coats), but also lessons about layout (planning goes a long way here) and creativity (it’s great to add your own personal touches) as well as learning about mixing colours.

Amy painted her strawberry all by herself, while Ethan painted the different layers himself but asked for help with painting on the stripes, wings and antenna. I had so much fun joining in with the owl, and I’ve already mapped out my design for the Gruffalo which I’m keen to try. The Hide and Seek Painted Rocks kit is a great activity for the whole family to enjoy together, but know that even young children will do well with a little guidance making it perfect for beginners too.

The Hide and Seek Painted Rocks kit is available from bookstores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R240.

Thanks to Pan Macmillan for sharing this awesome kit with us.
