How Lion became King of the Animals and Other Stories from Africa

My children love stories of the wild animals that call our country home, it must be that Africa does run in their veins. The stories we have that tell the tales of how animals and things came to be, are books that they take off the bookshelf and enjoy reading time and again.

So we were delighted to receive How Lion Became King of the Animals and Other Stories from Africa. This book is a collection of 14 creation myths from the natural world, imaginative origin stories with a focus on the animals and people of Africa. Your children will enjoy reading about how lion became king of the animals, why hare’s tail is short, how the stars and the Milky Way came to be, and why monkeys romp through the trees so swiftly.

The stories are short so will make good bedtime stories, and will capture your child’s imagination with the lovely colour illustrations that accompany each story.

How Lion Became King of the Animals and Other Stories from Africa, illustrated by Chris Venter, is available from bookstores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R195.

Thanks to nb Publishers for sharing this collection of stories with us.
