How Winston Delivered Christmas

How Winston Delivered Christmas is a new Christmas book from Alex T. Smith, an advent story told in twenty-four-and-a-half chapters that promises to become a special new Christmas tradition in your home.

This beautiful book tells the tale of a brave and resourceful mouse called Winston and follows his ambitious journey after a surprising discovery. Winston stumbles upon a letter to Father Christmas on Christmas Eve, sadly the very important letter hasn’t made it into the post box and will surely not reach the “jolly red man with the beard and the smart red suit” on time. Winston takes it upon himself to find Father Christmas and hand him the letter in time for Christmas Day.

Each night starting on the first of December you will read a chapter to your children and discover more of the story as it unfolds. The last chapter will be read on Christmas morning, and by then your children will have fallen in love with Winston and will look forward to reading the book together again for the next December!

As Winston travels through the city on his mission he meets new friends in the most unexpected of places. Each of these new friends help him on his mission as he encounters a little more adventure that he’s used to! As the story unfolds each chapter will leave your children looking forward to reading more the next night. The book is beautifully illustrated with wonderfully coloured illustrations that bring the story of Winston and his journey to life.

Each chapter also features a special Christmas activity for the family to do together. From writing a letter to Father Christmas to crafting a Christmas Tree Paper Chain Card or a Snowflake decoration, there are lots of fun crafts ideas to discover and inspire some Christmas creativity. There’s also other fun activities to enjoy such as making gingerbread mice, or creating your own Christmas wrapping paper and Christmas tree decorations.

How Winston Delivered Christmas is a wonderful book to share together with your children, highlighting the values of friendship and kindness at Christmas time. It is available in hardback from book stores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R323. It’s recommended for children aged five to nine years. Go check it out, you can read a few extra chapters a night to catch up and still enjoy this wonderful new advent story this Christmas!
