Little Tikes turns 50!

Little Tikes is celebrating its 50th birthday this year! This educational toy brand for toddlers and children is well known for it’s colourful, resilient and fun toys. And the good news is that Little Tikes is still adding exciting new products to its much-loved range.

Little hands will love the Little Tikes toys, and parents will love that these toys are built to last. South African moms and dads love them, and after testing two of their best-selling toys out so do we!

The Little Tikes Push ‘n Play Turtle is a baby walker and activity center that features a bright green friendly turtle. The walker has a wide base to offer good support for little ones learning to walk, a handle to help with stability, and a locking mechanism to slow the walker down for early learners. There is also a built-in shape sorter, great for helping your child to develop fine motor and hand-eye coordination skills. It’s also perfect for introducing shapes and colours, and even early numbers and letters with them being featured on the shapes.  The shapes inside the sorter jump about as the walker is used, making fun popping noises as the inside spins like a real mower would when it’s on the move.

There are two fun garden animals on the handle, a bee and a cricket, and these make clicking noises when moved up and down. Another two interactive animal buttons also make clicking noises when moved, the pretty white flower with a ladybird on the walker spins and the snail moves from left to right. Babies can enjoy the shape sorting and spinning toys while they are still sitting. You can then use the walker to encourage them to stand up and take those first few steps to eventually become a confident walker. Your children can continue to enjoy the shape sorting even once they are walking and they will no doubt also still enjoy roaring around the house or outside on the lawn with this fun and friendly turtle. The Little Tikes Push ‘n Play Turtle is available for a recommended retail price of R699.99 and is recommended for children from 9 months to 36 months.

The Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune Drum is a great choice if you have a child who loves music. But if we’re honest here what child doesn’t like to bang away on a drum to their own rhythm? It’s brightly coloured and has two coloured drum sticks that children can use to make their own musical tunes. Your child can enjoy the traditional way of playing the drum, by using the drum sticks or their hands on the top to make drum sounds, or they can rub the drum sticks on the side of the drum to make a washboard musical sound.  The drum sticks clip onto each side making storage easy. The Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune Drum is available for a recommended retail price of R299.99 and is recommended for children aged 12 months and older.

Little Tikes encourages children and their parents to play together, and with a full range of products designed for all sorts of play patterns they make it easier to lay the foundation for the future of play too. Look out for the Little Tikes Sing ‘n Roll Ducky, Little Tikes Handle Haulers Truck and Little Tikes Discover Sounds Hammer in toy stores now.
