Our Planet: The one place we call home

Our Planet: The one place we call home is the official children’s book to the Netflix original documentary series. This stunning hardback book features a wealth of information about our planet, with incredible photography from the series and beautiful illustrations bringing the animals and plants of our land and sea to life.

This book is large, making it the perfect choice for a coffee table display where the whole family will be able to enjoy exploring our planet. With a map detailing our different habitats and in-depth looks at each of these, Our Planet is an extremely valuable teaching aid too.

You’ll be able to discover more about the frozen worlds, jungles, coastal seas, deserts, grasslands, high seas, fresh water and forests that connect our planet. From the polar bears and king penguins in Antarctica to the lowland gorillas and orangutans of the jungles, from beetles who stand upside down to gather moisture to the gemsbok antelopes who can survive temperatures of up to 45 C in the Namib desert, Our Planet promises to give you a deeper insight into and understanding of the one place we call home. It will no doubt also help to fuel your eco-warrior’s passion.

Each chapter on the different habitats is clearly marked, making it easily accessible even to young readers. There are details on each habitat as well as the animals that call it home along with information about what we can do to help protect it.

With a special foreword by Sir David Attenborough outlining the beauty and diversity of nature and encouraging us to become protectors for Planet Earth and its’ inhabitants, Our Planet will not only teach but inspire our children too.

‘You will be among the next characters who can, if they wish, tell the most extraordinary story of all – how human beings in the twenty-first century came to their senses and started to protect Planet Earth.’ Sir David Attenborough

Aptly described as a “glorious visual celebration of the natural world”, Our Planet is the perfect gift for families to read and learn from together.

Our Planet: The one place we call home,  written by Matt Whyman and featuring illustrations by Richard Jones, is available in hardback from book stores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R355. It’s recommended for children aged six to eleven years of age.

Thanks to Jonathan Ball Publishers for sharing this beautiful book with us.
