Pura water bottle

Over the past few years I’ve become more aware of recycling and have tried to do my bit where I can to try and reduce, reuse and recycle. Having kids makes it all that much more real that we need to look after this Earth for our children’s future on this planet.

For this reason the Pura range of bottles caught my eye, they contain no plastic but are instead made with non-toxic high quality stainless steel (which is in fact fully recyclable) and medical grade silicone. In addition they are designed to be used during the different stages of your little one’s childhood, there are different mouthpieces that you can swop to meet their growing needs. This is not only more cost effective and convenient, but kinder to the environment too.

My two kids absolutely love their Pura bottles, and it’s my top choice for outings and school days. Not only do they look great and work well, but I can be more relaxed knowing they are safe for my children. The bottles are available in 150ml for infants and there are four different natural vent nipples available. You can get sealing lids (made of silicone of course) for these bottles so that you can seal them and use them for snack containers when your child is ready to move onto the 325ml bottle. All the bottles feature a silicone grip sleeve which makes it easy to hold and the sleeves are available in a range of beautiful coloured swirls or just plain bright colours. Each bottle features internal volume markings and comes with a silicon cap for easy transport too.

Amy started by using the straw but soon moved to the sports cap, while Ethan started by using the sipper spout but now also uses the straw. It’s very simple to change between the mouthpieces, making it a great choice for younger children who may still need the sipper spout but are also wanting to learn how to use a straw. And when your child does want to drop the sipper spout and use the straw, or move from the straw to the sports cap, you can just purchase the new mouthpiece and keep the original bottle. It’s also easy to buy additional mouthpieces should yours become damaged.

Cleaning the bottle is easy, it’s dishwasher safe (so are the silicone parts) or you can just rinse it with soap and water while the mouthpieces can be sterilised in boiling water or in a steriliser. The bottle is shatterproof – my one year old has certainly put this to the test too – and the stainless steel has a lifetime warranty. I’m also happy to report that I haven’t had the bottle leak which is a big plus in my books.

Pura bottles are not just for kids either, there is an amazing range of sports bottles available for adults too. This 850ml bottle is perfect to use when you’re out and about, not only helping to eliminate unnecessary purchases of disposable water bottles at the shops, but also encouraging you to drink more water and be healthier. I love my Pura bottle and use it whenever I’m out or just at home to keep my drinks cool.

Reducing how many plastic bottles we buy for our children is our responsibility, its terrifying to think that 38 billion water bottles end up in landfills every year. Pura bottles are the world’s first 100% plastic free bottles and they are also the only such bottles on the global market to be non-toxic certified by the independent third party MadeSafe. Make sure you check the Pura range out, I’m sure you will love it as much as my family does!

The full Pura range is available online from Faithful to Nature, while the baby and children’s range is available at selected Kids Emporium stores. The bottles range in price from R240 to R355. Each bottle comes with a top but all the different tops are available separately.

It’s a definite must that bottles must be easy to open and close, and not leak. Bonus that the Pura bottles do all of these things 🙂
