Disney’s top movies for the holidays

2017 has been a bumper year for Disney at the cinema. The company released a number of great films onto the big screen this year. Films like Beauty & the Beast, Cars 3, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge. If you missed them the good news is that they’re now available on Blu-Ray and DVD so you can enjoy them at home together with family and friends this holiday season.

Here’s my top picks of Disney movies on DVD for the holidays:

Moana

“You’re welcome” is the new catchy tune on the block! Moana is a spirited teenager who from a young age has felt the pull of the ocean to explore beyond the safety of her own island. She sets sail on an action-packed journey to enlist the help of demigod Maui to help save her people. Moana is a bright, colourful and fun movie that the kids will enjoy.

Cars 3

Lightning McQueen is back! This time he’s facing off against Jackson Storm, a next generation racer that challenges the famous number 95’s racing future. McQueen will have to revisit his past to plan for his future.

Beauty and the Beast

A visual feast with an incredible soundtrack that will have everyone in the family singing the popular tunes. Princess Belle will be back in the spotlight as your little girl’s favourite princess!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

The funny, 70’s music loving Star-Lord returns in Vol. 2, and he even has a new awesome mix tape. The Guardians of the Galaxy team up for another mission, one which unwittingly leads to Peter Quill discovering his true heritage. Gamora, Drax and Rocket join Star-Lord, along with the cute baby Groot.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge

Captain Jack Sparrow is well-known for getting himself into tight situations, often with hilarious results, and Salazar’s Revenge is no different. A swashbuckling pirate adventure with lots of action as the ruthless Captain Salazar and his deadly crew of ghost sailors hunt down Sparrow who is searching for the legendary Trident of Poseidon.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One tells us the story of how the Rebel Alliance came to know about the flaw in the Death Star’s design. The new team of unlikely heroes set out on a dangerous mission to steal the plans to the Death Star.  Action-packed sequences, a new droid, and exciting bonus features for Star Wars fans to enjoy.

On the big screen

Don’t forget that the mighty Thor: Ragnarok is still showing at cinemas, and that Disney•Pixar’s Coco is new to the big screen too. Last but not least, Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in cinemas on the 15th of December so book your tickets early and start planning your launch day outfit for what promises to be the movie event of the year.

Rogue One was amazing and Moana was highly enjoyable. My top pics out of this list but I didn’t get to see all the contenders yet. I’m very keen to see Beauty and the Beast still and the line up Thor: Ragnarok, Pixar’s Coco and Star Wars: The Last Jedi is insane.
