Make a LEGO Mini-Me

Once you’ve known a person for a long time as I have with my husband Wayne it can be challenging to choose a gift that’s interesting and exciting. He’s a great father and I wanted to make sure he had a super awesome present for Father’s Day this year. As soon as I saw the LEGO figurines you could make on Mini-Me I knew I had the perfect gift!

Mini-Me.co.za is an online site that allows you to create personalised LEGO figurines. You can choose from 1000’s of different items on the site, each original LEGO pieces, to build a unique character. While the choice can be a little overwhelming at first, once you have an idea in your mind about what you want to create it’s easier to scroll through the categorised items and start building.

LEGO FigurinesI had a couple of thoughts about what kind of figurine to create based on my husband’s interests, but it was only when I saw an Indiana Jones type brown hat that I knew who I wanted to create. From there choosing a head, torso and legs was easy. I knew I’d made the perfect choice when I spotted Indy’s signature whip and added that along with a compass to my Mini-Me. Since it was a gift for Father’s Day I chose to add a stand that read “Happy Father’s Day” on the front, with “You’re a classic” on the back.

I couldn’t wait for the delivery, which arrived within a few days of my order. It was packaged well in a small clear container (always handy when you’ve got small kids!) with the figurine being wrapped safely up inside. I had to keep it secret from both my husband and my three year old daughter, who I knew would instantly spill the beans to her Dad. I was blown away to see that the Mini-Me team had even thought to add a little shoulder bag to my Indy to really complete the look.

Father’s Day arrived, and although he loved his hand-made cards from the kids, he was truly surprised and thrilled by the Mini-Me. It’s a super awesome gift to receive, and so much fun to make and give too. Since then Indy has been on a few fun adventures with us. Being the legend that he is, he draws attention wherever he goes, whether that’s taking on a big shark or just enjoying the views on the beach.

As soon as I set eyes on my Indiana Jones-inspired LEGO figurine, I just knew I would have to create my own figurine soon and I’m itching to make one for my kids too. I think they would look just awesome sitting on their book shelves in their rooms, and when they’re a bit older they can play with them too.

You can’t go wrong with LEGO figurines, go check out Mini-Me.co.za if you’re looking for a fun, unique gift for a friend. It’s easy to create this personalised gift and there are a number of secure payment options, including using your credit card, PAYPAL or EFT. You’ll get free shipping via courier if you spend more than R300, otherwise delivery will cost you R60. The Mini-Me team was quick to reply to any queries (like if they thought the torso I chose for my figurine would match my chosen legs), and delivery was fast so they come with a LEGO thumbs-up from Indy and me.

These are so cool. I have tried creating one for myself, but I go into analysis paralysis mode and can’t decide between all the options

I found it a lot easier once I had an idea of what I wanted to create in my mind, it helps you to narrow down your options!
