Out of Sight

“She knows too much. And it could cost her family everything.”

With just this short introduction the new thriller Out of Sight from James Patterson and Brendan DuBois grabbed my attention. The high-paced suspense filled story started on page one, there was no warning, no gentle introduction and I was gripped by the unfolding adventure until I had read the last page.

Intelligence Office Amy Cornwall is recently back from a tour in Afghanistan and eager to spend time with her husband and daughter. But her dream soon turns into a nightmare when she returns home only to discover that her family is gone, with only a note left behind with instructions on what to do if she ever wants to see them again.

The clock is ticking, she only has 48 hours to complete the task set for her. Armed with her training and wit, she sets out on a harrowing journey to unravel the mystery of who is behind the kidnapping. Intent on not only saving her family but seeking revenge, its clear that Cornwall will do anything to be reunited with her family, regardless of what it may cost her career and who may stand in her way.

Cornwall isn’t the only one intent on saving her family, her husband has a few tricks up his sleeve too. He isn’t going to sit idly by while his daughter and him are held captive, especially when he is certain the motive behind the kidnapping is his fault not his wife’s career choice as she believes. It’s a riveting read, with hard choices made and terrible consequences discovered as we find out how far the characters are willing to go to save their family.

Out of Sight is available from book stores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R290.

Thanks to Penguin Random House for sharing this gripping new thriller with me.
