Welcome to the world of Ladybird, making growing up the best story ever

If you’ve browsed through a book store or your local library the chances are that you’ve seen the familiar Ladybird logo on the children’s books before. The great news is that Ladybird is relaunching in 2019, and this includes a fresh new publishing programme tailor-made with today’s parents and children in mind. The bold, beautiful and contemporary new publishing out this year will help young children discover the world around them.

The world of Ladybird offers books for a child’s every need, from birth through to confident young readers. The publisher is proud to be there every step of the way, making growing up the best story ever…whether that’s baby’s playful and brightly illustrated first books, little hands discovering new worlds with fun interactive books or curious imaginations being inspired by bedtime story moments.

There are wonderful new Ladybird titles now available, find out more of my top picks below:

The Ladybird Baby Touch books were the first books I bought for Amy when she was a baby. She loved the bright colours and always wanted to explore the beautiful touch-and-feel textures in the playbooks. The new Colours is a small board book that features the same bright colours and beautiful textures which your baby can interact with, and is a wonderful, fun way to introduce your little one to colours and animals while encouraging sensory development. There is also Words, Numbers, and Shapes to add to your collection and brighten up early learning and stimulate a baby’s senses from birth.

The awesome new Little World series is perfect for small children, it includes interactive books that enable children to explore the world around them. Children will be able to discover In the City, set sail Under the Sea, head off on a Jungle Journey and venture To the Moon with wonderful push-and-pull interactive adventures that boost motor skills.

We love audiobooks, not only are they great for keeping littlies entertained on long car trips but they are also perfect for creating quiet time and a good choice for rainy days too. The Ladybird Audio Adventures are a fact-filled journey for younger listeners aged four to seven, and are a new, engaging way for children to learn about the world around them. Go on a Deep Sea Dive to encounter the wonderful creatures of the ocean with explorer Cassandra and missy Raven as you meet jellyfish, sharks, and even giant squid. You can also explore Amazing VehiclesDinosaur TimesOuter Space and The Animal Kingdom in these new audiobooks with special stories that feature fun sound and musical effects.

Ladybird Favourite Stories is an audiobook treasury of eight classic tales. Young listeners will enjoy Jack and the Beanstalk, The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Gingerbread Man, The Three Little Pigs, Sly Fox and Red Hen, Town Mouse and Country Mouse, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, and The Three Billy Goat’s Gruff. Listening to stories is a great alternative to television, to calm down children before bedtime or even to encourage reluctant readers to build books into their day. We love listening to them while colouring in or building a puzzle in the afternoon.

With its glittery cover and beautiful illustrations Ten Minutes to Bed Little Mermaid is a magical bedtime adventure that children will love. This delightful bedtime tale sees Splash the mermaid distracted by the underwater kingdom before bedtime, in a gentle rhyming story that will have young readers counting down from ten to bedtime.

If your children find pleasure in reading they will become happy readers. This is important because one of the most important skills in life for your child is being able to read. Reading plays a major role in communication, and links into other skills including speaking, listening and eventually writing.  If you read daily with your child, they will learn to love books and enjoy reading.
