Pan Macmillan South Africa held their Children’s Book Conference yesterday in Durban. Our beautiful city didn’t disappoint the international guests from the various publishers with blue skies and warm Summer sun. We were guided through a detailed line-up of the new and upcoming titles for 2018 from the four different publishers, these being Macmillan Children’s Books, Walker Books, Hachette and Priddy Books. There were also a number of the new books on display to browse through and make you even more excited for this brilliant line-up.
Priddy Books have always been a favourite in my house, and I have a shelf filled with their amazing books to prove it! Here’s a sneak peak of what Priddy Books has to offer in the coming months.
We can look forward to new lift-the-flap books like the bus-shaped My Fun School Bus to help teach colours, shapes, numbers and more in a fun way with over 45 big flaps. There are also two slide-and-find titles with large flaps to lift and sliders to push which are new to shops, What’s in my House? and What’s in my Truck?, with What’s in my Farm? coming later. Another highlight for me was the new Noisy Tractor and Noisy Rescue books, kids love sound books and combined with flashing lights and even lift-the-flaps this is bound to be lots of fun to read.
Where Does Pig Live? looks sure to be a winner, a hide and seek book with fun pull out tabs, lift-the-flaps and more of the bright and colourful illustrations we’ve grown to love from Priddy Books. There will also be new mini tab books for little ones and First Learning Play Sets focused on animals and numbers with puzzle pieces to play with and slot into the board books. There are new Sticker Activity Early Learning books in a new smaller size too, always a big hit in our home, as well as new Wipe Clean Workbooks for English and Maths, and Wipe Clean Activity Flash Cards which I can’t wait to test out. Space IQ is an amazing looking gift set with an interesting reference book packed full of exciting facts as well as a fold-out poster, a 3D model to build, and a solar system. Body IQ, Bug IQ and Dino IQ will also be available in this range.
My World is a new title filled to the brim with amazing illustrations by Roger Priddy, and See, Touch, Feel is an incredible book with amazing sensory pictures for kids to explore. New Let’s Pretend titles are also in the wings, with Chef’s Kitchen and Doctor’s Bag, giving children the chance to slot puzzle pieces into the book and build their skills. There are also a few new touch and feel books featuring adorable puppies, the farm and animals, a wonderful Dinosaur ABC book, and a new Follow Me finger maze title that will take little ones Around the World, even to South Africa! The Giraffe is Lost Zoo Search and Find title that was teased also looks intriguing.
As you can see Priddy Books didn’t disappoint with their exciting line-up for 2018. From touch-and-feel to lift-the-flap and even hide-and-seek, there really is a book for every child from this amazing publisher.
