Thomas & Friends Walking Bridge (Toy Review)

We have been blown away by this Thomas & Friends Walking Bridge set! It’s our first motorized train set and right from when Thomas first set off around the track I knew we were going to spend many happy hours playing together with it.

Thomas & Friends Walking Bridge

The set features the Sodor Walking Bridge which helps Thomas to cross the broken bridge. When Thomas (or any other motorized engine) rolls onto the bridge it walks to the other side. Your little engineers will also delight in using the levers to reveal trap doors that allow Thomas to race under the bridge and switches that can be pushed to send him on a different track.

There is over 6 feet of reconfigureable track, giving you the option to build the three different track layouts listed in the instruction booklet. The tracks slot easily into place, making it simple to build, break apart and rebuild the designs. I also feel that I should mention the quality of the product is great.

Both of my children have loved the time they’ve spent playing with the Thomas & Friends Walking Bridge train set. It’s been a joy to watch them interacting and having fun with each other while moving the Sodor Walking Bridge back to it’s starting position, lifting the trap doors and toggling switches on the set. They also seem to think it’s lot of fun to flip the direction Thomas is traveling in and move the sign with the Thomas & Friends logo on it!

Learning to follow directions to build the tracks, observing cause and effect, and even developing fine motor skills are some of the benefits that I can see children will gain from playing with this train set. I really do believe that a motorized train set is a classic addition to your toy collection and because it’s compatible with all Thomas & Friends TrackMaster track sets there is the opportunity to connect and expand to create more railway adventures!

This train set is so awesome I felt you just had to see it in action, so make sure you check out my video of Thomas and the Sodor Walking Bridge below. Please note I did add the train sounds for dramatic effect!

The Thomas & Friends Walking Bridge is available for a recommended retail price of R949.
