My First Counting Kit (Book Review)

Whether you’re homeschooling or just eager for your child to get some extra practice at home, be sure to check out this new Junior Explorers series kit from Hinkler Books.

Every afternoon as I help my daughter with her homework my son also looks for something to keep him busy. Since we received this colourful kit from the Pan Macmillan team he’s enjoyed joining our session by doing some work of his own!

My First Counting Kit

The My First Counting Kit includes 32 activity pages that would, in my opinion, be well matched to a child in the Grade 0 to Grade 1 level (that is a child aged five plus). The kit includes five brightly coloured markers as well as a chunky grip pencil to use to complete the activities. There is also a sticker sheet with fun stickers that you can use to reward your child’s progress.

The activities, which include fun games and mazes, will help to reinforce foundation skills of numeracy. Your child will be encouraged to recognize and count the numbers from 0 to 20 as well as learn connections between number names and numerals.  The activities each feature fun black and white illustrations which your child can colour in with the markers. There is even a seek and colour activity on the inside of the kit for your child to enjoy.

My First Counting Kit is a great way to kick off your child’s early counting journey. The kit will also inspire creativity and help to develop motor skills, and thanks to the bright colours and fun illustrations  your child will have fun while learning to count!

Thanks to Pan Macmillan for sending me this kit in exchange for an honest review.
