Riders Republic (Game Review)

Riders Republic is an open world action sports videogame, where you’ll be able to jump onto your bike, skis, snowboard or wingsuit and experience the thrill of extreme sports in a massive multiplayer playground.

I couldn’t wait to hit the slopes, and I had to laugh at all the advice doled out by my two kids – “life lesson Mom, don’t go off the edge.” But luckily there was also heaps of praise to go with that – “you’re acing it Mom”, “oh yes, now we’re talking”, “wow, that’s epic”, and my personal favourite, “gnarly!” They weren’t lying, things haven’t been this gnarly since Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

There is such a big world to explore in Riders Republic, and the courses you’ll navigate are beautiful. You’ll be able to journey from snowy mountains to arid canyons and discover the huge open world comprised of iconic US national parks such as Bryce Canyon, Yosemite Valley, Sequoia Park, Zion, Canyonlands, Mammoth Mountain and Grand Teton.  Participate in events to earn XP which you can use to get more gear, customise your rider, earn rewards, and qualify for new events.

If you have a youngster who is interested in bikes or sports they will love this game, we have had such fun competing and exploring together. Although truth be told we did fire up the game again after the kids went to bed to get some more game time in! The music, as my daughter so aptly described it, is “rocking”, and when you’re hurtling down a hill at high speed your heart is guaranteed to be racing and your adrenaline pumping.

There are plenty of obstacles on courses to navigate, so in the words of George of the Jungle “watch out for that…tree!” There is a lot of opportunity for you as a rider to hone your skills, perfect your tricks and level up, but if you do go out of bounds the game will allow you to reset to the course or reverse your moves which makes it accessible for a beginner rider to learn the control system and get used to the game.

The wide range of outdoor sports will mean that you’ll be kept busy as you shred the snow, mud and dirt. In addition to the career mode, you’ll be able to battle against up to 64 players simultaneously online and play with or against your friends in different multiplayer modes ranging from PvP events to 6 vs 6 team competitions.

Riders Republic is available for the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Note: Parental Guidance is advised as the game features mild themes and coarse language.

Thanks to Ubisoft for sending me this videogame in exchange for an honest review.
