We first met Sara and her friends who journeyed in a hot air balloon around the country and learned how to say hello in our country’s many different languages in How many ways can you say hello? Sara and her friends are back, but this time we’re learning how to say goodbye in How many ways can you say goodbye? by Refiloe Moahloli and Anja Stoeckigt.
The story will capture the imaginations of young readers with its rhyming verse and wonderful illustrations. You’ll see some of the magnificent animals that live in our country and even a few beautiful local destinations.
Not only will we learn how to say goodbye in South Africa’s 11 official languages, but Sara’s journey to say goodbye to her friends will also teach another valuable lesson about goodbyes not always being sad. Children often become overwhelmed when saying goodbye, but the story helps to teach them that one good thing coming to an end can lead to more good things as Sara reads the lovely letters sent by her friends inviting her back.
The book comes with a downloadable narration link, simply scan the code in the book to listen to Refiloe reading the story. This is not only a fun activity for the little ones but also the chance to make sure we’re pronouncing the words correctly.
How many ways can you say goodbye? is a must for your children’s bookshelf, a fun but informative picture book that teaches us to embrace the diversity within South Africa. And if you haven’t read How many ways can you say hello? now is a good opportunity to check it out too!
