The new top toys from Prima Toys are sizzling hot!

Prima Toys held their annual showcase in Johannesburg last week. It’s always a wonderful time to embrace your inner child and have fun seeing the new toys that will be hitting shelves over the next few months, and to start taking note of what will be the top toys for Christmas too!

The carnival theme saw us testing our skills (and luck) at four games where we could each win a prize. There was also delicious Maverick and Jane gourmet popcorn to enjoy as well as catching up with blogging friends. Most importantly though, the hottest new toys were on display for us to see, hear more about, and even get some hands-on time with.

A few of these top toys were scattered around our tables, and during the presentation there was much laughter, squeals of surprise and giggling as we dug for treasure in Treasure X, tested our balancing skills in Boom Blast Stix, played ball with the Little Live Pets Lil’ Cutie Pup, had our hearts stolen by the Fingerling unicorn, and raced against the clock in Flipside.

It was a chance for us to remember just how important play is. This was highlighted by comedian The Napsta who, in addition to making us laugh with his various impressions, also encouraged us to create an environment where our children can spark their imaginations and keep their curiosity to learn and discover through play and toys.

Managing Director of Prima Toys John Jordaan also encouraged us to spend time playing with our children, and to let them explore their world through play. Prima Toys’ Chiquita Patrizi then gave us a closer look at the new range from Prima Toys, including amazing new toys for both girls and boys. There are also some incredible new tech toys available as well as great toys for toddlers and games for the whole family.

Girls will be spoilt for choice with the awesome line-up, from the new series in the colour changing Baby Secret collectible range to the Baby Secret Pets and Baby Secret Merbabies who we can’t wait to meet. There are also more of the Pikmi Pops with mini scented plushies hidden inside to look forward to, and the new Cake Pop Cuties with slow-rise squishies inside waiting to surprise you. The amazing Little Live Pets range now includes the Lil’ Cutie Pup and soon the Surprise Dragon, Unicorn and Bizzy Bubs Baby will also join the interactive fun.

The popular Baby Born doll will be available in soft touch this September. She will feature a soft and seamless body, improved movement of arms and legs, and she will cry tears more easily. The beautiful Baby Annabelle will also be available for little girls to cuddle with soon. The amazing Baby Love doll from Prima Toys will be available as Tasha (who speaks Afrikaans), Bella (who speaks English) and Thando (who speaks Zulu and English), with a new Xhosa doll also coming soon.

The Disney Doorables will appeal to the Disney fans among us, who will be eager to collect the cute characters and playsets available in this new range in October. The Scruff-a-Luvs are a new range of rescue pets that see you receiving a down and out pet who you then bath, dry, brush and care for to reveal whether you have a bunny, cat or dog as your new forever friend (available in September). The global best-selling L.O.L. Surprise range continues to be a firm favourite too, and you can now unwrap the new Glitter, Confetti and Little Sisters dolls, pets, and now puzzles and games too. L.O.L. Surprise Pearl Surprise, Bigger Surprise and Underwraps will launch in September.  The Shopkins are also still a hot selling collectible, with season 9’s Wild Style now in stores including the new Shoppets pets and cute Shoppies dolls. Also keep an eye out for Lil Secrets playsets and the Small Mart shopping playsets in October later this year.

The Ben 10 range is still the biggest boys brand in South Africa, and the Ben 10 Omni Launcher with two figurines, deluxe Transforming figure, Ben 10 Action Projection Omnitrix and Ben 10 Alien Creation Chamber are bound to keep the boys busy. Some great news for Ben 10 fans is that Ben 10 will also be launching on SABC 2 in addition to being aired daily on Cartoon Network. If you have a Big Hero 6 fan in the house, you’ll be happy to know that there will be Micro Chibi figures, action figures, feature figures, Armoured Up Baymax and Blast Flying Baymax available in September to tie in with the series which is now showing on Disney XD. Ben 10 also has a new ambassador, none other than Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane!

The new Treasure X is a fun toy that will allow your child to chisel the soft brick using the X-cavator and uncover different parts of a new collectible skeleton figure that they can then assemble. There’s also a treasure chest hiding, add water to see if there’s gold inside! There will be 24 figures to collect when Treasure X launches this September.

There are also new Justice League Figures available in the Mini Stretch range, so you’ll be able to stretch Batman and Superman up to five times their original size. The boys are also going to love the new Trixx 360 cars, with eight cars that all turn 360 degrees to collect and accessories, wheels and bodies that are interchangeable, and you can even use the box to build a ramp.

Mickey Mouse will be a focal point when the famous mouse turns 90 this November, so look out for awesome new plush toys, games and puzzles. There will also be dress up costume party packs from Marvel Avengers, DC Heroes Boys, DC Girls and Disney Princess at a special entry level price point.

Stay tuned to find out more about the top new tech toys, games and toddler toys, coming soon!
