A Busy Day for Birds

It took just one read of this brightly coloured board book that lets you imagine you’re a bird for a day to become a favourite of mine.  It’s a wonderful combination of quirky and colourful, that when combined with the rhyming verse and onomatopoeic actions, makes it a top pick for something new on your bookshelf.

A Busy Day for Birds features all different kinds of birds, from roosters to woodpeckers, from peacocks to flamingos. They are all depicted in a fun and colourful way that your children will love. Each page is a vibrant colour, adding to the already joyous celebration of the beauty of birds.

Your children will repeat the sentences after you, mimic the sounds of the birds, and imitate the actions described in the book. “The sun is up, the sky is blue. Wake up and shout Cock-a-doodle-doo!” They will hop, they will peck, they will flap and they will even stretch their neck. Whoever said that reading a book has to be done sitting still has never read A Busy Day for Birds, because my children tend to jump up and act it out when I’m reading this book to them!

A Busy Day for Birds is a fun action rhyme story that your children will enjoy, perfect for small kiddies and great for early readers too. Keep reading fun, and they will always love to curl up with a book, and not just on a rainy day either.

A Busy Day for Birds is available from bookstores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R179. It’s recommended for ages 1 to 5.

Thanks to Pan Macmillan for letting us be birds, hooray!
