Motherhood

Let’s build!

Hello world, and welcome to my new blog, Forts and Fairies.

I started writing from the moment that my little girl Amy entered this world, and I haven’t stopped! The two of us have come a long way since those early days – learning together, making memories, and now sharing them with you.

It’s been an adventure having a little person to call me mom, and it’s a title that I’ve treasured from that very first time I laid eyes on her in the hospital theatre. The contagious giggles and silly tickles, the tears of both happiness and frustration, the quiet times snuggling and the noisy times dancing… I wanted to remember them all. Hours pass by so quickly, they turn into days and weeks, and before you know it years have flown by, and the tiny baby you once cradled in your arms has become a mischievous toddler who barely fits into your lap!

The mispronounced words; the quirky versions of songs; the first time she called me mama; unbridled joy at running through a sprinkler; amazement at seeing a giraffe; meeting her brother for the first time. These are all moments that I wish I could freeze in time, and so I did, the only way I knew how to, I wrote.

As you can imagine I’ve got quite a collection of stories now, memories which I’ve been preserving for over two years as I’ve watched this special young lady grow in front of my eyes. Sometimes I’ve just wanted to remember funny things she’s done, other times lessons I’ve learnt. Some are happy, some are serious, but all of them are from the heart. I hope one day she will treasure them as much as I have, and that I will always be as special to her as I am now. Her mama.

Let’s build forts, let’s play fairies!  I hope you will enjoy sharing in our memories too.

Congratulations on the launch of your blog Lisa!

I’ve been privileged with having a sneak peak at the stories you have been squirrelling away and have enjoyed reading them immensely. I wish you all the best with your blog and know many of your readers will enjoy your posts as much as I do.
