Made with Love & Plants (Book Review)

Whether you’re new to this plant-based journey, just thinking about starting out, simply want to introduce more plant-based food into your home or have already embraced the plant-based life there’s sure to be something to inspire you in this new recipe book from Tammy Fry Made with Love & Plants.

Made with Love & Plants

Made with Love & Plants includes a really great selection of simple and delicious plant-based recipes. But more than that it includes information about why we should choose to live a plant-based life and encouragement for the challenges of transitioning to such a diet. There are even examples of meal plans, common questions and answers, discussions on conscious eating and how to navigate the supermarket and decode labels. I was happy to learn more from the Vegan Parenting 101 chapter as well as how to eat healthy and plant-based on a budget and even browse through the useful starter shopping list.

Tammy’s story about her own vegetarian journey and her motivation to inspire other people to change to a plant-based lifestyle is inspirational. As the director of Meat-free Mondays in Australia and South Africa as well as a director of The Fry Family Food Company she has made it her mission to promote plant-based eating and is a key influencer to do just this.

Made with Love & Plants

There are over 70 plant-based recipes in Made with Love & Plants, and you just need to browse the wonderful variety included in this book to make you realise just how much fun you can still have with your food. Get ready for breakfast ideas including smoothies (rainbow unicorn anyone?), muesli, granola, tofu scramble and even breakfast carrot cake (yes please!). There is also a light meals and sharing plates section that features buddha-bowls, loaded homemade nachos and soup and a fantastic section featuring family meals. I’m convinced the roasted butternut and lentil lasagne will become a favourite in my home!

You can find out more about gut health, batch cooking, dairy alternatives and even find some lunchbox ideas. I would be hard pressed to choose a favourite from the sweets section, but I can guarantee you’re going to love the different options – from oat and choc cookies to cinnamon and walnut muffins and vanilla nice cream with cookie crumble.
