Marmalade: The Orange Panda is the charming new picture book from David Walliams. It’s a delightful story about a panda bear who is different but eventually learns to embrace his uniqueness.
There is a new panda born but, even though his mom thinks he’s perfect, he soon runs away after he is shunned by the other panda bears because he doesn’t look like them. His adventure sees him meeting some interesting animals in the forest, each a little confused as to why this panda is orange.
The book contains marvelous onomatopoeic words, which are not only fun to read out loud to your little ones but also make great practice for early readers to practice their own reading by sounding the words out.
The story about finding your place in the world is brought to life through wonderfully bright and colorful illustrations by Adam Stower. I always enjoy picture books with messages and this one of being yourself and celebrating family love is an important one to share with our children.
We loved meeting Marmalade, and were happy to add this fun little panda bear to our collection of David Walliams picture books.
Thanks to Jonathan Ball Publishers for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review.
