Tales from Acorn Wood, Lift-the-flap book and giant jigsaw puzzle

The Tales from Acorn Wood series is a wonderful collection of four lift-the-flap books from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, the well-known duo who created The Gruffalo. This special gift set includes the board book edition of Fox’s Socks and a giant floor puzzle with all the characters that your little ones will recognise from Acorn Wood.

Fox’s Socks is a tale of poor old Fox, who has lost his socks. The story takes children on an adventure around Fox’s house in search of the missing socks. Along the way he finds other missing items from his wardrobe, each hidden behind a flap. The combination of vibrantly coloured illustrations, rhyming text, a fun story, and the lift-the-flaps make this a popular choice for my kids. Being a board book it’s also safe for little hands to hold.

The 20 piece floor puzzle will help to teach your children to count, with the numbers one to ten featuring on the large puzzle pieces along with the characters from the books. The puzzle features the same bright and colourful drawings from the books and is made of a sturdy cardboard.

This book and puzzle set would make a wonderful gift for an eager reader. It’s beautifully presented in a strong cardboard box with a red carry rope, neat to store on a bookshelf and easy to carry to Granny’s house for a morning outing.

The Tales from Acorn Wood: Fox’s Socks Book and Jigsaw Set is available from bookstores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R265. If your children enjoy Fox’s Socks (which I know they will), be sure to look out for the other titles in the Acorn Wood series too: Hide-and-Seek Pig, Postman Bear and Rabbit’s Nap.

Thanks to Pan Macmillan for this lift-the-flap fun!
