Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year, a time to celebrate and to make special memories together with friends and family. I absolutely love sharing the magic of this festive season with my children, it’s a real highlight of my year to see their excitement building and to experience this joy again of the wonder of Christmas through their eyes.
That’s why it’s one of my favourite things to do each year to find a few Christmas themed goodies for them to enjoy and make this time even more special for them. I’ve rounded up a few of my top picks for Christmas themed books from Penguin Random House, and I hope you will enjoy spoiling your kiddies with one or two of these awesome new products.
This could mean your child enjoying a beautiful Christmas sticker book or getting creative with a magic painting book, reading the Christmas story together or spending time building some festive LEGO builds. These are all perfect for sharing in a Christmas Eve box or just for helping to keep them busy over the upcoming school holidays.
I hope you will love what I’m featuring in the guide as much as I do. Don’t forget to let me know which is your favourite!
The Christmas Story: My First Nativity Book (R180)
This wonderful board book will allow children to experience the magic of the first Christmas and is a perfect introduction to the nativity story for young children. Read the story of the first Christmas together with your little ones and watch their faces light up as the stable pops out at the end of the book, the stable doors even open! This would make a great choice for storytime during December to celebrate the real reason for the season, and being a board book it’s ideal for little hands to hold too (just watch them with the pop up).
Enchanted Christmas Magic Painting Book (R150)
The magic painting books from Usborne are such a fun activity for children. All the joy of painting without any of the mess! Kiddies simply brush water over the black and white illustrations in the book and the scenes burst into colour. They are guaranteed to love painting the pictures of elves wrapping presents and decorating a snowman, special animals singing carols or skiing and ice skating. The paintbrush is included and slots neatly inside the cover for easy storage. There’s even a flap at the back of the book which you can unfold and place under the page you’re working on to prevent the paint from seeping onto the page below.
Little Sticker Dolly Dressing: Christmas (R150)
We are big fans of the Little Sticker Dolly Dressing books from Usborne. Little ones will delight in dressing the dolls in this festive activity book using the stickers. There are plenty of Christmas scenes for children to decorate with over 200 stickers of festive outfits and Christmas decorations. Dress the dolls for decorating the tree, building a snowman or ice skating. You can even store spare stickers on the back fold out cover while you dress the dolls and because the stickers are reusable you can change their outfits and the decorations you’ve added to the scenes.
LEGO Christmas Ideas (R230)
This is perfect to inspire LEGO fans to get building with 50 festive build ideas. It comes with an exclusive reindeer mini model for you to build, along with original build ideas for LEGO holiday decorations such as snowflakes, candles, and wreaths. There are even ideas for games including memory match-up and tic-tac-toe as well as inspiration for hanging tree decorations. It’s guaranteed to bring hours of LEGO Christmas fun and I like that it’s a great size to pop onto your bookshelf to store.
Peter Rabbit Christmas Fun Sticker Activity Book (R140)
We adore Peter Rabbit and so this wonderful sticker book jam-packed with festive activities and stickers was an absolute must. Children will be able to join Peter Rabbit and his woodland friends on Christmas adventures. There are over 300 stickers, word searches, spot the difference games as well as colouring in to enjoy. Perfect for some festive fun, and to keep little hands busy on a rainy day!
There’s an Elf in your Book (R165)
My children have had such fun reading this series of books, so we couldn’t wait to read this new Christmas addition. A little Elf has found his way into your book, and he’s determined to find out if you’ve been naughty or nice this year. Do you have what it takes to make Santa’s Nice List? An interactive story that will have the kiddies giggling as the Elf asks questions and may even have a few tricks up his sleeve to try and get you to be naughty.
The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch (R165)
This is the spellbinding sequel to the bestselling magical adventure, The Christmasaurus, by Tom Fletcher that readers between the ages of 7 and 11 will enjoy. It’s been a year since William Trundle’s adventure with the extraordinary dinosaur, the Christmasaurus. William now finds himself back at the magical North Pole where he meets the Winter Witch, whose power to control time allows Santa Claus to make the long journey around the world every Christmas Eve. But with Christmas threatened William, the Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch must work together to protect it.
Peppa Pig: Peppa’s Night Before Christmas (R165)
Little Peppa Pig fans will delight in reading this rhyming story, a Christmas classic updated for Peppa Pig that sees Peppa and George hoping to meet a special visitor on Christmas Eve.
