The Very, Very Funny Book by Jaco Jacobs is a new picture book that’s guaranteed to have your children laughing out loud.
All the kids in Miss Hippo’s class are busy at school, but the class keeps on being disrupted by Hyena who can’t stop laughing out loud. Eventually the teacher discovers he’s reading a book, Very, Very Funny Jokes, and before long she is laughing too.
You’ll find yourself smiling as she reads the eight page joke book in the story, all centered around wild animals. “Why are elephants so wrinkly? They’re too big to iron.”
In my experience children love reading stories about animals, and the humour in this book together with the animal characters you meet will make this a new favourite at storytime. The rhyming story and the fantastic illustrations by Theodore Key make The Very, Very Funny Book a delight to read together with your children.
It’s also available in Afrikaans as Die Baie, Baie Snaakse Boek.
Thanks to Pan Macmillan for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review.
