A Wishing-Chair Adventure: A Daring School Rescue

I was an avid Enid Blyton reader when I was younger, Famous Five was my favourite. So I have so enjoyed sharing her books with my children now too. A Wishing-Chair Adventure: A Daring School Rescue features a fun story and lovely colour illustrations that will captivate young readers.

In case you didn’t know, Molly and Peter have a magical wishing-chair that flies them to fairy-tale lands and can grant them any wish they please. The pair let their toys grow wings by using Growing Ointment on them, and now they are on a mission to find the missing toys after they flew away.

The Wishing-Chair takes Molly, Peter and pixie Binky to the school run by Mister Grim for Bad Brownies. And so begins an adventure to track down the missing toys, avoid being captured by Mister Grim and then escape once they are discovered and made to attend Mister Grim’s school.

My children both enjoyed the story, in fact we read it for the first time in one sitting as they were mesmerized. I also had to make sure I didn’t ever block the illustrations while reading because they really wanted to see the story unfold as well as listen to it. I can see them being interested in more Wishing-Chair Adventures now!

I loved the fact that the chapters are short, making this a great choice for bedtime reading. This, combined with the illustrations by Alex Paterson, make it perfect for early readers. These new full-colour short stories from Blyton’s magical Wishing-Chair series also give me the opportunity to share more of my love of Enid Blyton with my children.

A Wishing-Chair Adventure: A Daring School Rescue is available from book stores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R100. It’s recommended for children aged five to eight years.

Thanks to Penguin Random House for sharing this Wishing-Chair Adventure with us.
