Just Dance 2021 (Game Review)

We’ve been moving and grooving to the tunes of Just Dance for many years now already. It’s a fun dancing game that will get you up and off the couch, and let me tell you a little secret right now – you will enjoy it just as much as your children do!

Just Dance 2021 features 40 new tracks that are guaranteed to start a dance party. You’ll be dancing and singing along to hits like “Rain on Me” by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, “Adore You” by Harry Styles, and “Señorita” by Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello.

If you’ve played a Just Dance game before you’ll be happy to know that all your favourite dance modes are back. As a mom I love the Just Dance Kids mode, my kids really enjoy dancing to the fun songs here (including 8 new songs) and it’s something you can happily put on knowing the content is all kid-friendly. They will be mesmerized by the brightly coloured animations which are often hilarious but always fun.

It’s easy to pick-up-and-play, simply hold the Joy-Con controller in your hand and dance along as you follow the prompts from the dancers on-screen. You’ll be rewarded points for your accuracy and earn a star rating for your performance at the end of each dance. You can dance with up to six friends too, just use your smartphone to track moves with the Just Dance Controller app.

The Sweat mode is handy if you’d like to use the game as a workout. You can track your calories burnt and time spent dancing in this mode, and you’d be surprised just how much fun you will have getting a good workout. The co-op mode lets you play with friends and work together to get the highest score, and there is even an improved World Dance Floor mode where you can challenge other players to dance battles! You can also choose to just jump straight into a randomized playlist with the new quickplay mode.

You can sign up to the Just Dance Unlimited subscription streaming service, letting you dance to over 550 songs. There is one month free trial included with the game.

Just Dance 2021 is available for the Nintendo Switch for a recommended retail price of R999 from the Nintendo eShop. Don’t forget that you can download the demo from the Nintendo eShop if you’d like. You can also jump into the Just Dance 2021 experience on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it will also be available later on next gen consoles.
