We have been fans of the Barbie magazine for a while now, so when the Barbie team contacted us to work together we were so excited. The Barbie magazine has been helping young girls to learn in a fun way for over 15 years, and I am sure you will join me in celebrating together with the team because this month’s August edition is the 200th issue!
Amy loves spending time with the Barbie magazine every month, and I’m sure your little girl would too so let’s take a closer look at what you’ll find in the magazine monthly. It’s the perfect choice for early school-goers as it features stories, puzzles, crafts and activities that promote numeracy and literacy. Kids will have fun with the activities because they are presented by Barbie, her sisters and friends. Some activities even encourage parent-child interaction so your child will need to enlist mom or dad’s help to complete them which is a fantastic way to spend time together.
In every magazine you’ll find colouring in, a story to read, a craft (Amy’s favourite) and a beautiful poster too. I love that the activities are a great balance between fun and learning, from wordsearches to join the dots and spot the difference there is something for everyone to enjoy and it’s all made that much more exciting because you’re doing it with Barbie!
The Barbie brand promotes friendship and kindness, something which I believe are two very valuable skills for a young girl to embrace especially given the challenges that lockdown has brought. A theme highlighted in the magazine is that you can be anything you want to be, and this encouragement to believe in yourself is so very important to our young girls.
The Barbie magazine is available monthly nationwide from Spar and Woolworths and also online from Cool Mags at www.coolmags.co.za. The August issue is available in stores and online now so make sure you check it out!
Forts and Fairies has a special surprise for you inside the magazine so let us know if you spot anyone familiar in this month’s issue and stay tuned for an exciting competition too!
