Bau and the Baobab is a new local children’s book written by Lesley Beake and illustrated by Ann Walton. In the book young readers will be taken on a journey through the African bushveld as a group of friends set out on a hide and seek adventure.
While searching for her friends Bau discovers various tracks in the bush, leading readers to discover a variety of animals with her along the way. Children will delight in seeing Bau missing the hiding children, and also enjoy guessing which animal she’ll stumble upon next based on the descriptions.
There is the opportunity to learn about the many animals that call our land home, from the porcupine to the duiker, from the giraffe to the warthog. My children also always laugh at the elephant who Bau believes she saw footprints for but never actually sees.
Bau and the Baobab is available from bookstores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R95.
