Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain (Game Review)

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain is new to the Nintendo Switch. It’s a fun way to flex your brain with family and friends, and we’ve loved competing against our little ones with this new videogame.

We loved loading our different profiles, so each member of our family has their own avatar set to their age to challenge their skill level. This also gives you the opportunity to compete with scores for the games. As you play you’ll unlock different outfits for your avatar which has been fun to customise.

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain

The game includes different activities to help stretch your brain, ranging from challenges to identify, memorise, analyse, compute and visualise. Each of the activities will require quick thinking, and may include sorting objects from biggest to smallest, breaking blocks to match the shapes, helping to guide a train or memorising symbols. Each activity will have a time limit and depending on how far along you progress you’ll earn a score and level up.

Solo mode will give you the opportunity to practise and boost your skill and speed. This will mean you’ll be ready for game night where you can try get the highest score in Party mode by going brain-to-brain with family and friends in local multiplayer in matches for up to four players simultaneously. But don’t worry because all’s fair in the battle of the brains as each player can set their own difficulty.

You’ll also be able to take a test to find out your Big Brain Brawn, you’ll receive a score and determine your brain type. And if you’d like to pit yourself against other players from around the world be sure to jump into Ghost Clash mode to see how you match up to other players’ best performances, whether that’s worldwide or just players on your friends’ list or family members.

You’ll have so much fun with Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain that you won’t even realise your grey matter is getting a good workout. This is a great title to keep your kids’ brains ticking over the school holidays. I was a fan of Big Brain Academy on the Nintendo DS, and I’m delighted to be able to enjoy this series on the Nintendo Switch with my kids now too.

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain is available for a recommended retail price of R529 from the Nintendo eShop. There is a free demo available if you’d like to flex your brain and take the game for a spin.

Thanks to Nintendo for sending me this videogame in exchange for an honest review.
