If your family or your kids love golf, then Mario Golf: Super Rush is the perfect match for you. It has that balance that Nintendo do so well, between being a wonderfully easy to pick-up-and-play game, but also having the depth should you wish to use that.
You’ll be able to hit the green with up to four players, either locally or online, and choose from one of 16 characters from the Super Mario series. Step into the shoes of Mario, Peach, Yoshi and more as you enjoy golf with a Mushroom Kingdom Twist.
The kids have loved the Speed Golf mode, a fun round where you tee off at the same time with up to three other players and race through the course to get your ball in first. But this is Mario Golf so watch out for the different types of dashes and special shots that each of the characters can perform!
Battle Golf will see you facing off against up to three other players, as you use obstacles ranging from Chain Chomps to banana peels in the bright neon coloured Super Golf Stadium. There are 9 open holes and the first player to get 3 flags wins. Target Golf will challenge you to hone your precision as you take turns to hit five shots at the target against up to three other players.
If you’re serious about your swing then you can check out the Standard Golf mode. Here you will be able to choose from 3 to 18 holes across 6 different courses. You’ll find the controls intuitive and both new players and seasoned pros will be able to drive and putt thanks to the shot gauge that adapts to the curve of the course.
The Golf Adventure mode is packed full of content, with lots of courses (as well as different outfits and clubs) to unlock as your Mii levels up. Being able to use simple motion or button controls to play makes it fantastic even for the little golfers among your golfing party.
Mario Golf: Super Rush is a fun new addition to the Nintendo Switch library, and one that promises to deliver hours of happy golfing gameplay! Fun is, after all, par for the course.
Mario Golf: Super Rush is available for R1129 from the Nintendo eShop.
Thanks to Nintendo for sending me this videogame in exchange for an honest review.
