Clean Up!

Clean Up! is a children’s picture book that highlights how plastic pollution is spoiling our beaches and endangering the sea creatures.

Rocket sets out to visit her grandparents in Jamaica with her family. She’s super excited to spend time at the beach and to help her grandparents who run a whale-watching tour. But she’s saddened to see how much plastic is all around on the beaches, and even finds a baby turtle washed up to the shore tangled in plastic.

Luckily her grandparents also run an animal sanctuary at the back of their house, where they try to help the creatures who are hurt from the plastic that’s ruining the islands. Rocket learns that many creatures stay away now because of this, even the whales.  She becomes determined to let everyone know more about the dangers of plastic.

Before long Rocket has a clean-up crew and they work together to clean the beach. Clean Up! is an inspirational story with a positive message of how we can all make a difference. It’s important to educate our children on the future of our world and we can’t do that without teaching them about plastic. Your children will be inspired to also make changes in their own lives after they read this book and see the illustrations with beaches littered with plastic and even the crabs and seagulls with that plastic.

Clean Up!, written by Nathan Bryon and illustrated by Dapo Adeola, is available from bookstores and online retailers for a recommended retail price of R165. It’s recommended for readers aged three to seven years.
