The cheetah who ran too fast and other children’s stories from Africa

My children love reading stories about animals, and so we have enjoyed sharing this collection of stories from the African bush together. There are also important lessons to be learned from each story in The Cheetah who ran too fast and other children’s stories from Africa, making this a great opportunity to teach your children about saying sorry and forgiving, learning there are rules to keep us safe and accepting differences.

There are eight stories in this book, each one featuring animals that your children will know and love. You will meet The cheetah who ran too fast, Two Wild Dogs, and even The Pompous Elephant. Each story is told in verse, making it fun to read out loud, and even younger readers will enjoy the brightly coloured illustrations that accompany each tale.

Many of the lessons are things that I have tried to explain to my children, so I was delighted to have a book to help me pass them on now too. Each story is followed by an explanation of what the story is about, making it simple to discuss the lessons in a fun way.

The Cheetah who ran too fast and other children’s stories from Africa, written and illustrated by Trudi Franke, is available for a recommended retail price of R150 from book stores and online retailers. It’s recommended for children aged six to nine years.

Thanks to Penguin Random House for sharing this collection of stories with us.
