The hottest new games, tech and toddler toys from Prima Toys

Prima Toys held their annual showcase in Johannesburg last week. It’s always a wonderful time to embrace your inner child and have fun seeing the new toys that will be hitting shelves over the next few months, and to start taking note of what will be the top toys for Christmas too!

You can read about what amazing new toys you can put on your wishlist for the special girls and boys in your life, but make sure you also check out the incredible new tech toys that will be available as well as the great toys for toddlers and games for the whole family.

The Fingerlings range has been wowing us with the cute, interactive monkeys and unicorns that can sit on your finger and respond to touch, motion and sound with over 40 sounds and animations. Well get ready for the awesome new Untamed Velociraptor Fingerling who will roar, hiss and chomp in untamed mode, but nuzzle, purr and love you in tamed mode. There will also be a new Baby Panda and Baby Dragon Fingerling!

There is also the new design Teksta 360 robotic puppy pet to look out for in October. It responds to voice, movements, lights and sounds and can even sit, stop and flip backwards in response to your hand gestures. The PokiBot is a fun miniature interactive robot that can make three recordings of your voice to be played back in his robotic voice. He responds when you clap, and he can dance which you can even control using an app.

The Robot Chameleon has an extendable tongue that you control via remote control and can catch food with. It’s LED Illuminated body features colour change lights and it has a motorized tail and eyes that move when it walks.

There are some exciting virtual reality and augmented reality products coming out soon. VR Real Feel lets you experience virtual reality on your smartphone with a VR Real Feel headset and games which include VR Fishing, VR Alien Blaster, VR Motocross and VR Racing. There is also the VR Real Feel Alien Blasters that includes the VR headset, app, and a Bluetooth Blaster to let you save the world from aliens.

The Laser X Two-player Laser Tag Gaming Set includes two blasters and two vests so you can suit up and compete against a friend. The sets are compatible too, so team play will be possible when this launches in September.

A.R.I.A.’s Adventures includes three different games in one educational interactive box. You’ll be able to teach your children using the 100 interactive flash cards, a Virtual Reality animal park as well as 3D colouring pages. You can use your smart device or the included VR head set to take your children on an amazing virtual adventure.

The National Geographic range of toys has grown with new science kits to build volcanoes, create crystals and digging kits. In addition to new gorgeously soft play toys, there is also the new Wildlife Wow series which includes soft and squeezable figures hand-painted with non-toxic paint. You’ll be able to learn about each of the animals by watching videos and exploring the animal as it comes to life with a free virtual and augmented reality experience as well as see the animal’s skeletal structure using the app’s X-ray vision.

LeapFrog is a well-known educational brand that produces incredible toys which I have loved sharing with my children. The new Scoop and Learn Ice-Cream is an awesome addition to the range that will help to teach colours and numbers, while the Rainbow Lights Ladybird and Popping Colour Mixer Truck also look fun for teaching colours. The Shapes and Sharing Picnic Basket and the My Own Leaptop are still two of my favourite LeapFrog toys!

The line-up from V Tech excited me because my children have always enjoyed playing with cars and parking garages. The Toot-Toot Drivers range includes playsets with different tracks and SmartPoint technology which amazingly recognise and respond to SmartPoint vehicles with sound effects. The Garage and Airport set look like they will be great for imaginative play, while the Sing Along Microphone and Secret Safe Mini Diary will no doubt also make popular gifts.

Peppa Pig continues to be popular for pre-school children, and you can look forward to new playsets and plush toys soon. Little Tikes’ new range will also keep your little ones entertained with role-play and outdoor sets to encourage discovery and learning, ranging from musical toys to racers and even a dirt digger.

There is a great collection of classics and new games available. This includes the very fun Boom Blast Stix, a game that will see you taking turns to lock a stix and add it to a pile on the lid. But don’t get too comfortable, because the stix can open and explode the other stix at any moment, sending them flying around the room! Flipside is just as fast-paced, challenging you to flip to find the colour and slide to match the lights in this electronic game.

Thanks to Prima Toys for the awesome top toys showcase..which is your favourite new toy?
